🌲 Expedition Overview

The Nisutlin River Expedition — Recreation Site Option is the perfect introduction to multi-day wilderness canoe travel in the Yukon.

Beginning at the Nisutlin Recreation Site, this route avoids the more technical upper river and offers a smooth, beginner-friendly paddle through wide channels, scenic valleys, and remote boreal wilderness as the river flows toward Teslin.

This trip is ideal for families, first-time paddlers, and guests looking for a shorter but deeply rewarding Yukon river journey — with plenty of time to settle into camp life, enjoy the quiet pace of the water, and experience true backcountry travel.

🎣 The Nisutlin is also known for its excellent fishing, and this route offers outstanding opportunities for anglers. With productive runs, calm eddies, and shoreline access at many campsites, guests can enjoy casting in the evenings or trying their luck during breaks along the river. It’s a wonderful choice for those who want to combine wilderness paddling with memorable Yukon fishing.

As always, expect remote camping, abundant wildlife sightings, and Yukon Wide’s exceptional riverside cuisine. Our guides are known for turning camp meals into one of the highlights of the trip — with hearty breakfasts, riverside lunches, and fresh, creative dinners that prove wilderness travel doesn’t mean instant noodles.
