Guaranteed Departures, Trip Changes & Cancelations

If Minimum Trip Numbers Are Not Reached

If a scheduled departure has not reached the minimum number of participants, Yukon Wide Adventures reserves the right to cancel or combine departures up to 90 days prior to the scheduled departure date.

Before cancelling a departure, we will make every reasonable effort to:
• Transfer guests to another available departure.
• Combine departures where appropriate.
• Offer an equivalent or enhanced itinerary whenever possible.
‍
If no suitable alternative is available, guests will receive a full refund of all payments made to Yukon Wide Adventures for the cancelled tour.

  • Customers are responsible for loss, theft, or damage beyond normal wear and tear, up to the replacement value of the equipment.

Not Included: Airfare to/from Whitehorse; hotel meals and meals during transportation unless specified; personal expenses and tips; entrance and licence fees; alcoholic beverages; sleeping bags; personal clothing; and personal consumer goods.

Self-Guided Tours

Self-guided tours are not guided or managed expeditions. Yukon Wide Adventures provides the specific services and equipment included in the customer’s booking but does not plan or manage the customer’s complete trip.

Customers are responsible for researching and selecting their route and determining that the route, river, and activities are appropriate for their own skills, experience, physical abilities, and comfort level. Customers are responsible for understanding the conditions and risks associated with the river or route they choose and for ensuring they have the appropriate equipment, clothing, food, supplies, skills, experience, and preparation for their trip.

Customers are also responsible for making their own emergency and contingency plans, including understanding what they will do in the event of an accident, injury, illness, weather event, unexpected water or river conditions, equipment failure, or other emergency. Customers should not rely on Yukon Wide Adventures to provide emergency planning or ongoing trip management beyond the services specifically included in their booking.

Yukon Wide Adventures provides a rental equipment list and helpful preparation information, but these are general resources and are not a complete trip plan or assessment of the customer's suitability for a particular route or river.

Our administrative team is happy to provide the information included with your service but does not have the capacity to provide individualized expedition planning, assess a customer's abilities or experience, select a route on their behalf, or provide ongoing trip management beyond the services booked.

Shuttles & Schedule Changes

Scheduled shuttle times are based on the itinerary agreed upon at booking. Early arrivals, late arrivals, missed pickups, or other short-notice changes are subject to availability and are not guaranteed to receive immediate transportation.

Short-notice or unscheduled shuttle changes may be subject to a $200 schedule-change fee, plus any extraordinary mileage, staffing, accommodation, or other direct costs resulting from the change.

For remote trips, customers must not assume that an InReach, satellite, or other remote message has been received until Yukon Wide Adventures confirms receipt.

Delays & Travel Conditions

Delays can happen when travelling and adventuring in the Yukon. Weather, road conditions, wildlife, ferry schedules, mechanical issues, wildfires, and other unforeseen circumstances may affect travel times.

We will inform customers as soon as reasonably possible of delays or changes known to us. Customers should always allow extra time in their travel plans and should not make tight connections based on estimated travel times.

Cancellations by the Customer

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing.

  • Less than 45 days before the start of the service: 40% of the total price is forfeited.
  • Less than 30 days: 80% is forfeited.
  • Less than 14 days: 100% is forfeited.
  • No-shows: 100% of the total price is forfeited.

The 25% booking deposit is non-refundable when cancellation is made by the customer.

Cancellations by Yukon Wide Adventures

Yukon Wide Adventures reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify a service due to weather, wildfires, road or access conditions, emergencies, operational circumstances, or other events beyond our reasonable control.

Where possible, we will offer an alternative date or comparable service. If Yukon Wide Adventures cancels a service before it begins and cannot provide a suitable alternative, all amounts paid for the cancelled service will be refunded.

If a service is shortened, interrupted, or cancelled after it has started, any refund will be determined based on the portion of the service that could not be provided. Yukon Wide Adventures is not responsible for airfare, accommodation, travel expenses, lost income, or other additional costs resulting from a cancellation or delay.

Guest Conduct

Unlawful, unsafe, unethical, or seriously disruptive behaviour may result in immediate termination of the service without refund. The customer is responsible for any additional costs resulting from their conduct.

Insurance & Unexpected Costs

We strongly recommend travel insurance covering trip cancellation, luggage, medical care, emergency evacuation/rescue, and transportation.

Customers are responsible for costs associated with their own evacuation or emergency transportation.

If unexpected circumstances require additional logistical arrangements or expenses outside the agreed itinerary, customers may be responsible for those costs.

Yukon Wide Adventures is not responsible for incidental or consequential losses resulting from delays, cancellations, or changes to a service.

Age & Physical Requirements

Guided canoe tours are available to guests 12 years of age and older, unless otherwise specified.

Guests must be physically capable of safely participating in the activities included in their tour. Depending on the tour, this may include getting in and out of a canoe, walking on uneven or remote terrain, carrying personal belongings, and assisting with normal camp activities.

For multi-day and camping trips, guests must be comfortable sleeping in a tent on an air mattress and be able to manage the normal physical demands of camping and travelling in remote areas.

Guests are responsible for advising Yukon Wide Adventures of any physical limitations, mobility concerns, or other circumstances that may affect their ability to safely participate in the tour before booking.

Active Tours

Tours are considered active tours. Guests may be expected to participate in activities including loading and unloading canoes, collecting and cutting firewood, setting up and taking down tents, food preparation, and washing and drying dishes.

Most tours include campfires, and clothing may smell of smoke following the tour.

Liability & Waivers

Where applicable, all guests are required to sign Yukon Wide Adventures’ Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement and any applicable Equipment Rental Agreement.

Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Yukon Territory and applicable laws of Canada. Any legal proceedings relating to these Terms & Conditions shall be brought within the Yukon Territory.

Agreement

By booking a service with Yukon Wide Adventures, the customer acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Force Majeure

Yukon Wide Adventures shall not be liable for delays, changes, or cancellations resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, wildfire, flooding, severe weather, pandemic, government restrictions, civil unrest, transportation interruptions, or other force majeure events.

In these situations, refunds, credits, or alternative arrangements will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Any non-recoverable costs already incurred by Yukon Wide Adventures, including the non-refundable deposit, may be retained.
